Looking for an excuse to get out of the house, make some new friends, enjoy a good meal and learn about the exciting world of nature?  Then join us!  These programs are held the first Tuesday of each month.  The nature program will start at 11 a.m. at the Story County Conservation Center, McFarland Park (56461 180th Street, Ames).  An optional luncheon follows the program at 12 p.m.  Lunch registration and $7 fee is due the Friday before the program. 

The Northern Passage in the Era of Climate Change by David Thoreson, Photographer from Okoboji

David Thoreson will give an in-depth look at the science of climate change with an emphasis on the Arctic.  He will explore the state of the polar ice cap, changes in native villages, culture, tourism, resource development, and the northern sea routes with increasing shipping and commerce in the Arctic.  This program has been funded by Humanities Iowa.

Menu:  Honey baked ham, au gratin potatoes, green beans, dinner roll and butter and apple pie.  Preregister by September 27
