Nevada to Launch 3rd annual "Fill the Foyer" Campaign in January

At the December 12 City Council meeting, Mayor Lathrop proclaimed January as "Fill the Foyer" month.  Throughout the month of January, the community is asked to come together to fill the foyer of City Hall with donated food, personal items, and gently used clothing.

"Brett Barker organized this event last two years and it has been a huge success," stated Mayor Lathrop.  "We saw the impact to the clothing closet and food pantry and now we want to continue the tradition of giving back when the community needs it the most," he added.

According to Elizabeth Gindt, a leader at the Harmony Closet and Cubbies Cupboard, specific items that she believed the currents include blankets, children's clothing, new children's undergarments, socks for all ages, personal hygiene items, especially toothpaste, body wash, shampoo, diapers and female hygiene products.  Monetary donations are also accepted and tax decuctible.  Please make checks written to the entity of choice.

These items will be delivered to the Harmony Clothing Closet, Community Cupboard and Cubbies Cupboard on Friday, February 17, starting at 3 pm.  Organizers will need approximately 25 volunteers and ten vehicles to sign up to assist on this "distribution day".

For more information or to sign up as a volunteer, please call City Hall at 382-5466.  Donations may be delivered to City Hall at 1209 6th Street on Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm throughout the month of January.  You can also find information from these Family Services on the city's website at
