What is Leadership Nevada?

The Nevada Leadership program is a series of eight 5-6 hour workshops designed for a select group of individuals. The program is designed to:

  • Bring together current and potential leaders.

  • Strengthen individual leadership abilities.

  • Encourage a team approach to address community issues and challenges.

  • Challenge participants to personally commit to assuming new leadership roles in the community.

Leadership Nevada is an issues and skills-based leadership development program. The program is open to any person who lives and/or works in Nevada and who has an interest in Nevada's future. The program is targeted toward community members who are or who want to be involved in organizations, committees, commissions and boards.

The Leadership Nevada Program is valued at $400-500 per participant, but because of the contributions of many community-minded groups, organizations and individuals, the course can be offered in Nevada for a fee of $100 per individual. This fee covers all materials and refreshments for eight workshops and graduation. Financial assistance is available.

How do I get involved?

Your application to Leadership Nevada begins with a sincere desire to build your leadership abilities and serve the Nevada area. Each class of participants is intended to be a diverse group of men and women, who represent different professions, interests, backgrounds and talents. This diversity of perspectives is intended to lead to a deeper examination of issues.

Leadership Nevada requires a commitment on the part of each participant to devote the necessary time and energy to the program. In return, class members have the opportunity for a stimulating, challenging and rewarding experience.

Testimonials

"The program far exceeded my expectations. I gained a lot of insight about myself and my personal leadership skills. I acquired many valuable tools, which will not only help me as a leader in the community, but in my professional and personal life as well. I had the privilege of meeting a great bunch of people to network with and hope to work with in the future as we fill the leadership roles of Nevada and Story County. But most of all, I learned what it takes to be the 26th best small community in America."

Michelle Cassabaum, 21st Century Rehab, P.C.,

"Leadership Nevada opened my eyes to what community is all about. In nine sessions, I met more people and learned more about Nevada than I had in the 5 years I had lived and worked in the community. Leadership Nevada is informative, interactive and fun. I recommend Leadership Nevada to anyone who is committed to making a difference for the future of the Nevada community."

"In Nevada, there may be no better way for someone to grow professionally and personally than to attend Leadership Nevada and see first hand the inner-workings of the various community organizations which work hard to bring a high quality of life to Nevada."

Brian Schaffer, Nevada Community School

"It has been a mind-expanding experience. It has given me a better understanding of the various elements of the community that must work together to accomplish their particular functions. To accomplish these functions, it takes effective leadership, teamwork and many dedicated individuals. I've also gained a new appreciation for the many inputs it takes to have a strong and progressive community to meet the needs of individuals, families and businesses."

FC Parrish, Resident of Nevada
