Mission Statement
The Nevada Chamber of Commerce
is a community
minded business organization, which is committed to
the growth and development of member businesses.
Chamber Benefits
-
Office Referrals: This is
one of the most valuable services the Chamber offers to its members. The
Chamber office receives dozens of phone calls each week requesting
information for products or services.
We promote and serve our members.
-
Consultations: The Chamber
serves as a resource to individuals seeking business ownership. We will
provide information, resources, referrals and startup information to anyone
interested in bringing their business to Nevada. We also consult with
existing businesses to develop strategic business plans for growth and
future development.
-
Relocation Packets: We
wish everyone would consider moving to this great community! The Chamber
receives requests and distributes an average of 10+ informational packets
per month. This includes information about our schools, housing, shopping,
employment, churches, Nevada Organizations, and Quality of Life information.
Any Chamber member can request their information be sent out in relocation
packets at NO CHARGE.
-
Chamber Bucks: As a
Chamber member you can help other Chamber members by promoting dollars be
spent in Nevada. By accepting Nevada Bucks, also known as Chamber Bucks, you
will promote that your business works with other local businesses. Nevada
Bucks are an even exchange of money. They make a great gift and sponsorship
prize as well!
-
Nevada Journal Newspaper: Thanks to local sponsors, the Chamber
receives the back page of the Nevada Journal the first Thursday of every
month. This page is to promote new businesses joining the chamber, open
houses, business milestones and upcoming events. It is a wonderful way for
the Chamber to stay connected to not only businesses but also all residents
in the community.
-
Chamber Web Site: Our community web site features on-line membership
directory listing, new members, upcoming events, special notices,
fundraising activities, directions to our beautiful city, and much more.
Your business will be listed in up to four category areas and the capability
to link to your web page to help you promote your business. We also can post
your job openings and community events!
-
Nevada News: Thanks to sponsorship, the Chamber utilizes the radio
every Tuesday and Friday mornings to announce the Nevada News on 1430 KASI
AM. Any member can give information to the Chamber to be announced. This is
a great opportunity to announce all the upcoming Chamber and community
events.
-
E-mail Notifications: We offer the
opportunity to receive and send e-mails via the internet to other Chamber
members regarding special company announcements. This is all done as a
courtesy of our Chamber staff. Simply provide the information you would
like distributed and we take care of the rest. This could save your company
hundreds of dollars in postage each year. We also can provide mailing
labels of all Chamber members, free of charge, for any mailings or
announcements you wish to send.
-
Ribbon Cuttings: If your business is a new member, has completed a
remodeling project, moved to a new location, or changed ownership, you can
take advantage of the Chamber's ribbon cutting service and bring members and
the media to you. The Ambassadors is a group of volunteer Chamber members
that visit your business, answer any questions you may have, and help
promote your business in the community throughout the year. A newspaper
article and picture are complimentary following your ribbon cutting.
-
Welcome to Nevada Program: The Chamber sponsors a welcome program
that is available only to Chamber member businesses. Our hostess calls on
new residents of the community promoting the products and services of our
members’ businesses. The information is provided to the new residence in a
personal visit made by our Welcome hostess and each business that
participates is given personal recognition. From gifts, coupons and
brochures, our Welcome Program provides a wide variety of information to our
newest residents. The Welcome baskets are at no charge to the resident. The
nominal fee for business to participate in this program is $1 for each
basket that contains their promotional materials.
-
Committees: We provide you and your employees the opportunity to work
with fellow business people on topics and areas that most concern or
interest you and your business. This allows you the opportunity to suggest
and develop new fundraising events for the community.
-
Mix & Mingle: Many Chamber members partner to host this low-key after
hours event held quarterly. M & M can be a result of a grand opening, re-model or ribbon
cutting ceremony. Often the event consists of refreshments, music or other
entertainment. Average attendance is 40+ members and guests. These
gatherings are a great opportunity to meet other business people and
encourage business to business relationship support. We give you the
opportunity to showcase your business to the members.
-
Annual Dinner:
Held in the early fall, the evening features dinner, annual reports by the
Chamber and Economic Development Boards, awards and a featured speaker. The
annual reports give you a chance to evaluate our goals and objectives and
community planning events that you may want to be involved in over the next
year.
-
Annual Chamber Golf Outing:
Held in September, this allows for a casual and fun day of networking
with other businesses and your vendors. This event also concludes with a
meal and prizes. Many opportunities for networking are presented during the
afternoon and evening golfing activity which continues through the meal.
-
Agricultural Events: The
Agricultural Committee provides exposure and linkage to the ag community
through its numerous activities and events. The committee sponsors the Yield
Grower Contest during the crop season culminating in an Ag breakfast held in
early December for contest participants and business sponsors. Awards are
presented for highest crop yields. The committee also represents Chamber
member businesses at the Story County 4H Fair in purchasing ribbons in
support of the 4H youth of the county.
-
Government Advocacy: The
Chamber takes care of politics so you can take care of your business. We are
a respected voice when it comes to protecting and promoting free enterprise
and minimizing government interference and taxation. During election years
we commonly will offer debate forums between candidates in order for the
community to better understand the issues of the government.
-
Leadership Nevada:
Nevada's Leadership course, recognized as one of the best in the state is
co-sponsored by the Nevada Chamber of Commerce and ISU Extension Service.
Previous graduates are now accepting leadership positions in the community
